Think Slim, Issue #018 - Book of MagicDecember 31, 2005 |
Look great, feel greatHi Well that's the festive season nearly over, apart from the massive celebration tonight of course and the New Year's Day parties tomorrow! Then of course we'll be into New Year's resolution fever. When I was a regular gym-goer I hated January because everything was so crowded. But then everything would be back to normal by February. And actually I couldn't get too upset about the crowds at the start of the year, because gyms couldn't afford to stay open if it wasn't for all the January joiners. If you're thinking of joining a gym this year, think about whether you'll really keep it up. Don't be one of the drop-outs and waste your money. How about trying exercise for size - walking or jogging for three months for example - and reward yourself with a gym membership if you keep it up. My guess is that if you get through three months you're likely to want to stick with exercise (with or without the gym) forever - you will feel so good. Enjoy the parties this weekend then be ready to make 2006 a great one! Love
P.S. There are quite a few postings on the Think Slim blog this month. See them all at http://smallchange.typepad.com/thinkslim. ContentsFeature Article : The Magic Diet BookWeight Loss Tip : End of December Diet Traps Recommendation : 2 for 1 on the Diet Exit Plan Feature article : The Magic Diet BookA glut of new diet books hit the shelves every year at this time and we buy them in our millions. Every one is full of promises that this will be the only diet book we'll ever need, the answer to our prayers. But there we are again, just a few weeks or months later buying another diet book, hoping that this one has the true magic formula that will help us lose weight and stay slim forever. But actually there is no magic formula in any of those books, there never will be. You are the only one that has the magic formula that will work for you - the desire, the determination and the ability to take action. Many of those diet books would work if we could bring ourselves to follow them. Many of the exercise programs would tone and slim our bodies if we could drag ourselves out of bed in the morning to do the routines. But that is so very hard to do. They ask too much, too suddenly for ordinary mortals. We know in our heart of hearts that those diets work, and that it is we who do not. But we continue to buy the books because we are buying not just a book but hope when we hand over our cash. Instead of pretending that you have a will of iron and are likely to turn your life upside down this year (despite evidence to the contrary from the past goodness-know-how-many Januarys) why not just select any of the books you already have from your shelves and work out what you can do to make a start towards implementing the plan. Success does not have to happen in a day. I'm a firm believer in making small changes one after the other to bring about huge success. It gives you the chance to adapt bit by bit to a healthier lifestyle. But if the lifestyle in the book is not one you fancy living with forever then that's another story. Diet books generally offer a quick fix rather than an attractive way of life (quick fixes are what give us the hope and sell the book after all). In that case, why not design your own healthier lifestyle - one you're prepared to live with forever and put that in place step by step instead? This month's tip : End of December Diet TrapsDo you still have a lots of chocolate and other goodies left over from Christmas? Don't fall into the trap, like a friend of mine, of feeling you have to clear it all out before starting afresh in 2006. By clearing it all out, of course, she meant eating the cupboard empty rather than getting rid of it. If you have lots left over, get it out of the house where it can do you no harm. Give it away to visitors, take it into work and leave it in the kitchen area or if it has to stay home leave it out for your family and their friends to polish off. But if you really can't resist and you have no family to help, put it in the trash - much, much better to waste it than to pile it on your waist giving you even more pounds to lose. Recommendation: Diet Exit Plan 2 for 1 offerIf you purchase the Diet Exit Plan on or before the 9th January you will be able to take advantage of our current two for the price of one offer. You can either share the cost with a friend so that both of you get the plan and all the bonuses ... SORRY OFFER NO LONGER AVAILABLE Wishing you a fantastic month, looking and feeling great
