Think Slim, Issue #026 - Don't Keep Putting It OffSeptember 1st, 2006 |
Look great, feel greatHi It has been chaos at home recently with the children going back to school and having my kitchen rebuilt in a different room of the house. My stress levels have been sky high but luckily there hasn't been much chance of comfort eating - having 4 workmen ripping out the kitchen around the old fridge sure cuts down on the number of trips you can make there :) Have a great month Love
P.S. There are quite a few postings on the Think Slim blog this month. See them all at http://smallchange.typepad.com/thinkslim. ContentsFeature Article : Don't Keep Putting It OffWeight Loss Tip : What Do You Do? Recommendation : Weight Loss Handbook Feature article : Don't Keep Putting It OffIt never seems to be a great time for losing weight. There will always be parties and celebrations, trips and holidays, high days and low days. Unless you are managing to maintain your current weight, the longer you delay the worse it gets - you end up with a bigger task to face than ever. Losing 2lbs is easy, losing 20 much harder and losing 200lbs can seem like such a huge task ahead that you are afraid to begin. So the sooner you get going the better. Tackle every pound as if it was the only pound that stood between you and success and you'll win through no matter how much you have to lose but don't make your job any harder by saying to yourself "Oh well I'm going on a diet after the summer" (or after the New Year/ my birthday) or whatever and then going into super-overindulgence mode with the thought that you'll sort it all out later. For many later never comes... The best time to start any weight loss program is now. You don't have to plan or prepare to start changing your habits to eat healthily and in moderation and to move a bit more. Granted, if you have decided to follow a particular diet there may be some preparation involved in that but no more than shopping for the right foods which can be done in an hour! If you are not in full control of the cooking, don't follow a diet where it matters - choose another program and get going. For example, if you go away a lot follow a program you can do anywhere. But in any case start now! The thing is you are waiting for the perfect moment to start and the perfect moment will never happen. There will always be road blocks along the way so don't expect to follow any diet or weight loss program to the letter - just do the very best you can in the circumstances you find yourself. Waiting for the perfect moment to lose weight means that you will trip over and feel like a failure as soon as something unexpected comes up and it ALWAYS WlLL! That's when your motivation fails and you give up on yet another diet. Far, far better than waiting for the "best time to start" just begin gradually changing your habits into healthier ones and adopting the lifestyle that will keep you slim forever. But do that right now! Copyright 2006, Janice Elizabeth Small This month's tip : What Do You Do?When it comes to your weight loss efforts, what are the things you do and then think "I shouldn't have done that"? Every time that happens to you make a note of it. What went wrong? Who were you with? What did they say to you? What were you saying to yourself? After a while you will see patterns in your notes which show the exact thought patterns and habits that you personally need to focus on changing. Then start working on them one at a time.
