Think Slim, Issue #027 - Weight Loss - No Problem

October 1st, 2006

Look great, feel great

Hi

October already! That's just a few months until the "party and putting on the pounds" season is in full swing then.

The shops here are already full of cards and decorations just to remind you (in case you'd forgotten) of all the extra work and expense :)

But why not make this December the best ever by starting it with a fantastic new you?

There's still time!

Have a great month

Love

Jan

Feature article : Weight Loss - No Problem

Do you see your excess weight as a big hairy problem needing a miracle solution? Do you think you'll have a huge battle on your hands (based on past experience of dieting and exercise)?

Why not look at it another way?

Instead of looking at what you need to lose (your weight) why not focus on what you want to gain (a fit, slim healthy body and a healthy happy life).

See your weight loss not as a problem but as an exciting project creating a new lifestyle for yourself. You know you can live any way you choose but most of us just drift along doing the same old things, eating the same foods and weighing the same weight (give or take a few pounds).

Yet some quite small changes to your lifestyle can bring big results in how you look and how you feel. The difference between being fit and unfit is just three thirty minutes sessions of brisk walking a week. The difference between losing 10lbs every year and staying the weight you are is just a 100 calories a day - the second cookie you don't need. The difference between drinking just 2 cans of cola or 2 glasses of water a day for a month is 2lbs in weight lost or gained - not to mention an improvement in how you feel with the extra hydration.

You don't have to do everything at once. You can make changes one at a time and get used to them. It's when you try and change your whole lifestyle overnight that you give up after two weeks - that's pattern for most weight loss program failure.

And the best thing is that if you make those changes your weight will reduce simply as a by-product without you having to think much about it at all.

What minor changes could you make to your lifestyle right now which would make you fitter and healthier? Choose one and start doing that from today.

This month's tip : Contain Your weight

Buying big containers of potato chips or ice-cream might seem like good value at the supermarket but if you value your slim figure give them a miss.

Individual serving sizes are a great invention for your waist line if not for your pocket.

If you have a big family and really need the giant size product then never eat straight out of a container. You'll find it impossible to stop when you should once you get started. Avoid opening those big containers alone for a start - do it when there's a crowd to share the calories or put a modest portion in a dish for yourself and put the packet away.
