Permanent Weight loss : The Next 5 years
You can take the trouble now to make permanent lifestyle changes or face a lifetime battle with your weight. What will you choose?
What do you see yourself doing for the next 5 years?
Do you want weight loss to be the focal point for your life, a constant battle, losing the same 20lbs over and over again?
Or do you see yourself becoming slim and staying slim?
It's your choice!
To keep battling with your weight, to spend the next 5 years (and beyond) dieting, just carry on as you are.
As the saying goes, "If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got".
You may think that, actually, you are constantly trying a new diet, weight loss program, or fitness routine but in effect, it all ends up in the same pattern of losing some weight and gaining it all back again.
You continue to have the same underlying thought process, the one which says that you need to do something drastic to change your shape - and fast!
How about having a different mind-set this time. Look for a weight loss program that you really don't mind following for the foreseeable future, a program based on eating a variety of healthy delicious food. Choose one which does not tie you up with endless rules and restrictions, odd food combinations or endless weighing and measuring. The key is sensible eating of all kinds of food in moderation.
Review your choice in the light of the next 5 years. Would you be happy to adapt your lifestyle to suit your chosen weight loss program? Could you see yourself living like that in the future even if it seems a little difficult to adapt just now? How healthy is it in the long term? How expensive? How different is it from the way your family expects to eat? Could you get them on board?
So - the magic diet you are looking for is not the one which makes you lose your 20lbs at the speed of knots. It's actually the one which will allow you to lose weight slowly and steadily and which allows you to gradually adopt healthy habits for the long term without seeming too drastic a change today.
Choose carefully - a diet is for life not just for Christmas!
